Other: Brothers Llewellyn Washington Bigbie and Thomas T. Bigbie served in Co G, 33rd Alabama Infantry Regt.  Thomas, who was a twin to Benjamin, died in October of 1864 as a POW at Camp Douglas, Illinois. Half-brother James Newton Bigbie served with Co F of the 1st Mississippi Volunteers under Jefferson Davis in the Mexican War.  He lost his left arm at Buena Vista, but continued to serve.  He was Captain of the 1st Volunteer Co. of Harris County, Georgia, in the War Between the States.

Brother Thomas T. Bigbie is buried in the Confederate Mound at Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois; Grave 91, Block 2. His name appears on one of the bronze panels around the base of the monument.
