He is probably of the same family as John
Tilmon Parish (the large Samuel Parish family that came to Dale
County from South Carolina). Tilmon's father Josiah had a brother
Emanuel M. Parish, however he is not the father of Emanuel of Co E (he
did have a son Emanuel, born in 1873). An Emanuel Parish whose age
matches the man in Co E is found on the 1850 and 1860 Census for Putnam
County, Florida, in the household of Cornelius Barber. In 1860, he is
17, listed as a farm laborer. |
