"There was no better regiment in the
Confederate Army than the Fifteenth Alabama, and when properly
commanded, if it failed to carry any point against which it was thrown
no other single regiment need try it." -- Col. William Calvin Oates "The 15th Alabama went further (at Gettysburg)
than any other troop ... Co. E went as far as any part of the Regiment
and stayed as long. The men fired their guns until the barrel became so
hot they could not hold and load them." The purpose of this site is to memorialize the officers and men of Co E, 15th Alabama Infantry Regiment, CSA. The 15th Alabama was organized at Fort Mitchell in August of 1861, with eleven companies recruited from Barbour, Dale, Henry, Macon, Pike, and Russell Counties. Co E was raised in Dale County, and was known as the Beauregards. An attempt has been made to include as much information about these soldiers as possible.
