The identity of Griffin Crumpler's father has not been proven with documention. It is most likely that the sons listed below are the children of Griffith Owens Crumpler (a/k/a Owen Crumpler, Griffey Owens Crumpler).

born:  North Carolina
died:

Sampson Co. N.C. Deed Book 11 Page 544 - Deed of gift;  Jacob Crumpler to Griffey Owens ( Owen
his son ) Heading gives Owen Gregory his grantee. Dated 2 Aug 1802.
1830 Sampson County, North Carolina, Census lists Owen Crumpler, age 40-50; he does not appear on the 1840 Census

In the 1860 Coffee Co., Al Census there was an Owen Crumpler (age 72) and Annie Crumpler (age 55) living in the household of Joseph Brannon (age 30, blacksmith) and Mary E. Brannon (age 28). This is probably Joseph Brannon, b 2 Apr 1829, son of Sampson Brannon and Priscilla Gordon; Mary E. would be Mary Ester Rushing. Was Annie Crumpler a sister of Sampson Brannon? Given the age difference, Annie may have been a second wife. Annie is listed as born in Georgia, Owen in North Carolina.

1860 Dale County Census lists Jacob Crumpler, 35, Seely, 30, Sarah, 10, William, 8, James, 4, and Luther, 2.
