Fought in the wars of King Edward III in the retinue of the Black Prince
His son Ralph was killed in a brawl with the Earl of Huntingdon. Saddened by his
loss and embittered at the King's failure to bring Huntingdon to justice, he made a
pilgrimage to Jerusalem and died on the return journey.
