Nancy died at the home of her son John Almon Smith.

It seems highly likely that Nancy is related to Jesse Whatley and Rachael Taylor. Both Martin & Sophia and Nancy & Stephen named sons "William Taylor" (which was the name of Rachael Taylor's father). Both also named sons Miles. Stephen's sister Letty married Martin Whatley, son of Jesse and Rachael. John H. Whatley, Martin's first cousin, seems to be the most probable father of our Nancy. John H. Whatley had a sister named Nancy; both he and his wife Polly are in the right age groups to be Nancy's parents; John had a son named Wiley -- Stephen & Nancy named their youngest son Wiley; there is a gap between the birth years of known sons of John H. Whatley which covers the year 1811, the year of our Nancy's birth; one of the sons who would be closest in age to Nancy was Wiley Whatley; Wiley Whatley is listed in Census records as born in South Carolina -- as is our Nancy, the 1820 Jasper County, Georgia, Census indicates that John H. Whatley had a daughter born between 1810 and 1820. William Jackson Smith, father of Nancy's husband Stephen Smith, served in the War of 1812 from Jasper County.
