expbul1a.gif (699 bytes) Peter Smith

born: abt 1740 in Prince William County, Virginia
died: aft 1807 in Spartanburg, South Carolina

This line is not proven. William Jackson Smith may have been the brother of Peter Smith (m. Kissiah // in 1810), whose son Logan Smith was born in 1810 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and died in Tallapoosa or Clay County, Alabama.  Logan Smith married Elizabeth W. Morgan, who may have been related to Griffin Morgan, husband of Letty Smith.  Griffin Morgan was the son of Griffin Morgan Sr. and Temperance Whatley. Logan and Elizabeth named their oldest daughter Tempy. Peter Smith who married William Jackson Smith's daughter Marena, said to be a cousin, may also be related to this family.  Peter and Agnes had at least six children; he did not leave a will.

Logan Smith, son of Peter Jr.,  was in Henry County, Georgia, at the same time as William Jackson Smith and his family. Logan was b abt 1810 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. His father Peter Jr. was b 1783 in Kelso's Creek, Spartanburg, South Carolina. Peter Jr. died in 1870 in Talladega County and is buried in the Smith-Jones Cemetery, Ashland.

Parmalee Smith, son of Peter Jr., was b 8 April 1811 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Parmalee had a son Wilson Smith, who named  sons Miles M. Smith and Madison Wiley Smith. William Jackson Smith's son Stephen named sons Miles Smith and Wiley Madison Smith. Parmalee's son Christopher Smith was born in 1836. There is a C. C. Smith, age 24, in the household of our Miles L. Smith in the 1860 Census. (He died in the Civil War in 1862 at Corinth, Mississippi) I think this is likely to be Christopher. I believe this to be further evidence of kinship between these two families.
