am a great-great-great-granddaughter of Edmond Dismukes. If you have additions or corrections for this page, I would like to hear from you! |
1 Edmond Dismukes, b 1757 in Caroline County,
Virginia, d 1828 in Jones County, Georgia
m Bethany Hannah (Ina) Cox, 1794 in Jones
County, Georgia
2 Elizabeth C.
Dismukes, b
abt 1792
2 Louvina Dismukes, b abt 1794, d bef
1831
m Archibald
Batchelor, b 5 January 1794 in North Carolina, d October 1863 in Dale County,
Alabama. I believe Archibald
was the son or perhaps nephew of
Jesse Batchelor and
Lucy Whitfield who appear on the 1850 Putnam County, Georgia, Census,
ages 76 and 78, living near a Mallory family; one of
the Mallory children is named "Archy Bald".
Jesse I. Batchelor was born abt 1774
in Franklin or Edgecombe County, North Carolina, and died abt 1856 in Putnam
County,
Georgia. He married Lucy Whitfield.
Known children of Jesse are Riley, Littleberry, Blakey B., Annis, Cordy and
Marina.
The name Annis appears in Archibald's
family as well. Jesse Batchelor was the son of Solomon Batchelor and Sarah
Boswell.
Archibald Batchelor married Louvina
Dismukes 17 June 1819 in Richmond County, Georgia.
Archibald married
(2) Lucy Ann Mallory on 22 December 1831; Jesse, Edmund and George would be Louvina's
children, the others are Lucy's.
Archibald
Batchelor m (3) Mary Turner, 20 January 1853 in Stewart County, Georgia
1820 Putnam
County, Georgia, Census, Capt. Eli Buckner's Dist.: Archibald is a near neighbor of Sion Hill;
1 male under
10, 1 male 26-45; 1 female 16-26. Jesse
Batchelor is also in Putnam County.
1840 Upson County, Georgia Census:
Archibald Batchelor, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 15-20,
1 male 20-30, 1 male 40-50; 1 female
10-15, 1 female 20-30.
1850 Stewart County, Georgia, Census,
Lannahassee District;
Archibald Batchelor, age 56, b
North Carolina with
George W. 21, Andrew J. 7, Lucy A. 6,
and Archibald, 2. s
1860 Dale County, Alabama, Census,
Archibald age 66, with Nancy 35, Eliza 16,
Annis 6,
Marcus L. 1, Andrew J. 19, Archibald
12, and George W. Bachelor 31. I cannot account for Nancy, unless this is
another name
for Mary (Turner). I have
assumed below that the youngest children are Archibald's by Mary/Nancy, but it
is also possible
that Nancy is a daughter-in-law and
that Eliza, Annis, and Marcus L. are Archibald's grandchildren.
