John Wilson Holloway (1872-1892), son of Asa and Rebecca Holloway

These Holloways are buried in the same plot with Asa and Rebecca:

Barbara Holloway

W. F. Holloway

Asa and Rebecca are found on the 1860 Census in Montgomery County with Julia A. E. 7, Mary A. 6, George F. 3, and Louisa 6/12; and on the 1870 Pike County Census with Mary J. 16, George 14, Louisia 10, Wiliam H. 8, and Evie R. 4. 1880 Pike Census shows Rebecca, widow, with William 18, John 8, Della 6, Asa 3, son-in-law Carter J. Preston 23, and his wife Louisa, 20.
I can find no Census record of W. F. Holloway. His DOB would indicate that he may be Asa's brother.
Barbara, whom I believe to be Asa's mother, appears on the 1880 Pike County Census, widow, 84, born in Georgia, father and mother born in Virginia. The 1850 Troup County, Georgia Census, lists Norwell Holloway 56 (blacksmith), Barbara 54, Harriet 20, L. B. Fuller 19 (hireling) and Thomas H. Jones (age 1, born in Virginia, relationship unknown). The 1880 Pike Census shows Barbara as mother in the household of widowed daughter Harriet Hunter. The ages of the Pike County Harriet and Barbara match the ages of the Troup County Census. I have tentatively concluded that Asa Holloway Sr. was the son of Norwell and Barbara Holloway. Norwell Holloway also appears on the 1830 Monroe County, Georgia, Census. There is a William Holloway in Monroe County in 1830, possibly Norwell's brother. The 1860 Troup County, Georgia, Census (West Point) lists the family of F. Holloway 74, and Eliza 64: M. J. 27, S. 25. F. Holloway was born in Virginia. 1860 Troup County also shows S. Holloway 40, born in Georgia, female, presumably a widow, with H. 22, Asa 21, R. 20, Cephus 19, Catarine 15, and Anthony 14. It seems that the family of Asa Holloway Sr. originated in Virginia, thence to Monroe County, Georgia.
