            Miles is living near Stephen and Nancy. C. C. Smith served in the same company in the Confederate Army
            as Miles' brothers James and Hiram John.

            I can't account for John and Levi being in Miles' household in 1870 but not in 1860. Rufus appears in 1870,
            but not 1880, when he would have been abt 19. It's possible that John, Levi and Rufus are the children of
            Christopher Smith, who may have died in the War Between the States.

        He was a furniture maker. According to a family story, he was on his way home from Salem, Alabama, when he stopped
        at a house during a storm, and was mistaken for a Northern soldier and shot. However, Ursula appears as head of
        household in the 1860 Census. I cannot account for this discrepancy. 
        Russell W. Smith appears on the 1830 Henry County, Georgia Census, with 1 male and 1 female 15-20, and 1 male and 1 
        female 20-30. Nearby is Milton Smith (relationship unknown) with 1-0-0-0-1, 2-1-0-0-1. Tailor Whatley is also nearby
        with 1 male 20-30 and 1 female 60-70.  This is presumably Taylor Whatley, brother of Martin Whatley who married
        Sophia Smith. 1850 Tallapoosa Census shows Russell W. Smith age 41, b SC, with Ursula and all the children down 
        through John T. except Elizabeth, who had married by then. His occupation appears to be Mercer (cloth merchant).

           Alabama, son of William Duffey and Eleanor Laney. He was b 1826 in North Carolina.
           1900 Tallapoosa County, Alabama, Census lists David. S. Duffey and wife Elizabeth, living with son Augustus and
           daughter-in-law Mollie in Dudleyville.
           4 Marcus Monroe Duffey, b 20 August 1848 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, d 8 November 1929 in Marysville, Cooke County, Texas
              Marcus served as a Texas Ranger. Pension application paper states: "... records of this office show that M. M. Duffey
              was mustered into the service of Co C, Frontier Men of Clay County, Texas, at Montague, Texas, May 20, 1874, for a
              period of 12 months. This organization was commanded by Capt. E. F. Ikard, and was organized for the purpose of 
              protecting the Texas Frontier against Indian depredations." (signed Robt. L. Robertson, Adjutant General, State of Texas).
             He served as Justice of the Peace in Marysville for several years after he left the Rangers. He served two terms in the Texas 
             Legislature. He introduced the bill which designated Lubbock, Texas to be the site for Texas Tech University.
