William Jasper Martin
Pvt, 4th Alabama Infantry Regt., CSA
28 December 1845 - 8 July 1932
Born December 1845, Macon County, Georgia, lived most of his life in Covington County, Alabama.
Joined CSA Army May 1864, Co K, 4th Alabama. Serving under General R. E. Lee around
Petersburg, Virginia. Pvt. Martin at the age of 81 yrs married Alberta Stewart age 21 yrs on December 10
1927 making her the last known living Confederate widow. Pvt. Martin died July 6th [Confederate Marker
has July 8] 1932 after 4 yrs 7 mo. as husband of Mrs. Alberta Martin. They were the parents of one
son William Martin.
